Specialty Training

Overview

Deanery

The Northern Deanery hosts the School of Public Health. Since one core programme of the school is training in public health as a Specialty, alongside 10 other Schools - ensuring that this specialist training programme is delivered to all relevant national standards. The School recruits both medics and non-medics, through a national recruitment system and assessment centre process. The Head of School through regular meetings with other Heads of School, also aims to help bring about leadership for health improvement through other Specialties, and contributes to this aspect of workforce planning in line with Darzi recommendations. This work also includes supporting applicants who demonstrate their competence by the portfolio route, leading to registration with the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) website.
