This guide was written by the LG Group Public Affairs and Campaigns Team, with contributions from Local Government Leadership and the LG Group Policy Team. Additional material is taken from ‘LGA factsheets’ produced by LGA Analysis and Research and the LGA’s ‘Journalists’ guide to local government’ written by Gillian Enlund and The LG Groups Councillor’s Guide 2011/2012. Many facts and figures are taken from the Department for Communities and Local Government’s ‘Local Government Financial Statistics England 2009 and 2010’ and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s ‘Finance and General Statistics 2010-11’. Measuring impact in health improvement - An accessible guide for health practitioners

This guide has been produced for Local Government Improvement and Development (formerly the IDeA) by Valerie Garrow, Associate Director at the Institute for Employment Studies. It has been developed for practitioners working for councils and public health organisations who have been given the task of evaluating the impact of a project or initiative. It will take you through the process of designing, implementing and disseminating an impact assessment and will also provide information on the range of tools and help that is available. It aims to be a practical guide, helping you to design and conduct effective and appropriate impact assessment.
